Background & challenges
Supply drinking water and sanitary facilities to fishing huts in the Danube Delta, without altering the environment.
The Danube Delta is Europe's best-preserved protected natural area. It stretches across several countries, opening onto the Black Sea in Romania. It is a vast expanse of wetlands with lakes, ponds, streams and channels. There are natural zones where economic activities are forbidden, ecological rehabilitation zones, authorized economic activity zones and buffer zones where eco-tourism is developed.
Because of its ecological importance, the economic and social challenges facing the region require a specific sustainable development strategy.
Access to drinking water and sanitation is thus a real development challenge and conditions the sustainability of economic activities (artisanal fishing) and eco-tourism.
The project aims to equip the area with access to drinking water and a dry toilet cubicle, without these installations having an impact on the environment, or constituting visual pollution.
InovaYa will therefore design and install a water purification system, without consumables and without releasing any chemicals into the environment.
It will thus meet minimum sanitary standards, improving the living and working conditions of the fishermen. It's also a good way of improving conditions for tourists.
