Context & issues

For years, South Sudan has been facing major challenges, particularly internal conflicts, and also humanitarian and economic problems. Clashes between various armed groups and the government, as well as ethnic tensions, have contributed to instability in the region.

The country is therefore facing major humanitarian crises, with millions of displaced people and significant humanitarian needs in terms of food, water and healthcare.

International efforts are being made to promote peace, stability and sustainable development in the region. The humanitarian organisation Solidarités International is endeavouring to cover the essential needs of the population, such as the supply of drinking water.

Project History

The intervention

The NGO Solidarités International approached InovaYa to develop a water purification unit to facilitate their field operations in emergency situations and isolated areas.

They need a robust and lasting unit that can be adapted to several types of water sources, which is self-sufficient in energy and easy to transport and install.

Based on the unYo® water purification unit, a pilot project will be developed in close collaboration with Solidarités International and ReNewGies (for the energy component), with the aim of meeting the operational needs of the NGO.
